A Christening

My other little niece (the one I delivered back in May) was christened shortly after her sisters' birthday. There were other children there and it was fascinating to watch the heirarchy around which children arrange themselves according to age, ability to speak/walk and who has the most stickers. I am sure there is a political analogy in there somewhere...

A 3rd Birthday Party

My twin nieces were three the other day. There was a party, there were sandwiches, there was cake. Lots of it. There was also a face painter who for some reason made all the little girls have Amy Winehouse type of make up. It might be becoming for a 'troubled' pop star but for a three year old whose troubles consist of where the next bit of icing is coming from, it looks a little... odd.

Still, it made me wish to be three again.

Holderness-Shaw wedding

My friends Julie and Gavin were married last month in LONDON followed by a reception at the MANDARIN ORIENTAL on Hyde Park Corner. It was an American-Scottish wedding and a lot of fun. I was not the hired photographer but snapped away regardless and these are my favourites.

Oh and the cake was made by another friend - DOMINO PURCHASS, who one day will be as renowned as Jane Asher...

Back to Film...

A few happy accidents from a HOLGA. I kept forgetting what type of film I had loaded and then forgot again later so ended up cross-processing hence the slightly bizzaro colours. Also the rolls of 120 were slightly out of date and possibly sun damaged so not many of the images worked that well.

These were taken on the Island of Kalymnos in Greece in late September.







And this is a 35mm film strip taken from a roll used in an old PRAKTIKA camera - which I think were east German or something.

Old Soldiers

The Guards Magazine - a magazine for past and present soldiers from the Queen's Household Division wanted some shots of ex-Guardsmen who are currently Chelsea Pensioners... Seeing as it is on my doorstep - quite literally, it was easy to oblige. An unpaid job though.

TRADITION: Henley Regatta

And these were shot at HENLEY REGATTA for THE TIMES. The story was pulled in the end as the Wimbledon Championships took precedence. It was the hottest day of the year and people were battling with the 32 degree heat - me included.

TRADITION: Trooping the Colour 2009

These were taken back in June. What with working on FULL DEPLOYMENT (more about that soon) full time for 6 months I haven't had the time or inclination to blog.

This year's Trooping the Colour parade marks the 57th anniversary of the Queen's reign and her 83rd birthday. A Sovereign's Escort accompanied the procession of the Household Cavalry, which is made up of the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, who are stationed at Knightsbridge Barracks. Taking place at the Horse Guards Parade grounds, more than 1,100 soldiers and 300 horses took part in this year's Trooping the Colour, which dates back to the 17th Century, and is comprised of the Queen's personal troops, The Household Division.
